Ingredients

  • 1 family-size box brownie mix plus ingredients to prepare (see note)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups corn syrup
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecans chopped or whole

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • Prepare the brownie batter according to package directions. Pour it into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or 10 minutes less than the time listed on the box instructions.
  • While brownies bake, mix together the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Stir in the pecans.
  • After the initial bake, remove the brownies from the oven and carefully pour the pecan mixture over the top. Spread evenly.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25–35 minutes, or until the pecan filling is set but still slightly jiggles in the center.
  • Let cool completely at room temperature (about 1 hour) before cutting into 20 squares. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

If you can’t find a family-size brownie mix (made for a 9×13 pan), use two regular 8×8-inch brownie mixes and their listed ingredients instead.
For extra texture, use a mix of chopped and whole pecans.
To cleanly slice, chill the brownies briefly before cutting with a sharp knife.
