Ingredients

Vegetables:

  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 1 bell pepper sliced (use half red and half green for color)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for cooking

Steak:

  • 1 lb round steak sirloin, or venison, sliced very thin
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Dash of salt and pepper

Glaze:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 ½ tablespoons sugar

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Slice the steak, onion, and bell pepper. Set aside in separate dishes.

Marinate the Steak

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar, garlic powder, ginger, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour over the sliced steak and refrigerate until ready to use.

Make the Glaze

  • In another small bowl, mix all the glaze ingredients and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Cook for 3-5 minutes, until they begin to brown.
  • Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Steak

  • In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated steak and cook for 5-7 minutes, until browned and cooked through.

Combine and Glaze

  • Return the cooked vegetables to the skillet.
  • Pour in the glaze mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove from heat.

Serve

  • Serve hot over a bed of white rice.

Notes

Extra Flavor: Marinate the steak for 30 minutes before cooking for deeper flavor.
Variations: Substitute beef with chicken or tofu for a different version.
